What do we believe?
Let us introduce you to the Reformed Church!
We want you to get to know us better and so we would like to share with you 5 key teachings of the Bible that summarize what we believe.
Scripture Alone is our ultimate standard for faith and life.
Open my eyes, that I may see wonderful things in Your law....I will bow down toward Your holy temple, and will praise Your name for Your love and Your faithfulness; for You have exalted above all things Your name and Your word....But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (Psalm 119:18; Psalm 138:2; II Timothy 3:14-17)
Salvation from sin is found in the person and work of Christ Alone
Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved….For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men--the testimony given in its proper time...For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. (Acts 4:12; 1Timothy 2:5-6; Colossians 1:13-18)
All that we receive from God, including our eternal salvation, is a result of
Grace Alone
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus….But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect….It is by grace you have been saved….Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will-- to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. (Romans 3:23-24; 1 Corinthians 15:10; Ephesians 2:8; Ephesians 1:3-8)
Justification (being declared “right” with God) is received by Faith Alone
Where then is boasting? It is excluded. On what principle? On that of observing the law? No, but on that of faith. For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law….Consider Abraham: "He believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness." Understand, then, that those who believe are children of Abraham. The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: "All nations will be blessed through you." So those who have faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith. All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.” Clearly no one is justified before God by the law, because, "The righteous will live by faith." (Romans 3:27-28; Galatians 3:6-11)
In all things, we seek the Glory of God Alone
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God…. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever….[He] has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father--to him be glory and power for ever and ever!...Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever!...To him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! …Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever….For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen. (1Corinthians 10:31; 1Peter 4:11; Revelation 1:6; 2Peter 3:18; Ephesians 3:21; Revelation 7:12; Romans 11:36)
We are a congregation that believes, worships, and serves with these 5 great truths as our foundation: We believe that the Scripture alone is our ultimate standard and that the Scripture teaches us that salvation is received by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone, to the glory of God alone!
You are always welcome!
